We're in Texas for Spring Break. It turns out that Kat, our running buddy, is also in Texas, and in a crazy "it's a small world" way is only minutes from us. Her parents live down the road from my parents!
This weekend in our training for the Country Music Marathon in Nashville, we were supposed to do 18 miles, but, and this shouldn't have been a surprise since I was here in July and found the exact same thing, we're on the other side of the time zone and it's dark at 6 a.m. here. On top of that, I haven't done any real running lately, and I certainly haven't been out for a Saturday morning run in a while. So, we got started at 7:30 this morning and decided to only do 12 miles.
Well, the wind is sweeping down the plains today, but I really am enjoying the nice weather. We seriously didn't finish until 11. Yes, that's right. 12 miles. 3.5 hours. That would be a freaking long marathon.
Later this week we head to Nashville for Olympic qualifying soccer, and I told Eli that we need to find some parks where we can go walking/running. Unfortunately, the weather there is not supposed to be as nice as the weather here. We'll see.
